Introduction to Property Measurement and Control in Aluminium Alloys

  • Measurement of properties (strength, formability, anisotropy, toughness, fatigue, corrosion)
  • Microstructural definitions
  • Microstructure and property control during processing (casting, homogenisation, deformation, annealing, solution heat treatment, ageing, in-service effects)

Introduction to Surface Treatment and Coating of Aluminium Alloys

  • Processing technologies
  • Cleaning (acid, alkali, electrolytic)
  • Cr-based and Cr-free pre-treatments (Cr6+ and Cr3+, anodising, Zr, Ti, Mn, polyacrylic acid, silanes, SAMs and other alternatives)
