FICARP was a collaborative project funded under the Brite/Euram programme of the EU for four years from January 1996 to December 1999.
The partners in the project were Alcan Deutschland (now Novelis), Hoogovens Aluminium (now Corus), Hydro Aluminium, Hunter Douglas Europe, Delft University of Technology and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Following the successful completion of the FICARP project the partners have remained in contact and are continuing, pre-competitive, collaborative activities in the general field of the control of the corrosion behaviour of painted aluminium products for architectural and automotive applications. These activities are supported by national government supported programmes in Norway at Trondheim (with Hydro Aluminium), in Holland at Delft (with Corus Aluminium and Hunter Douglas Europe) and in the UK through EPSRC supported projects at UMIST, Birmingham and Swansea (with Novelis).
Following a meeting of the partners in Bonn at the Aluminium Surface Science and Technology Conference in May 2003 it was agreed that this FICARP website would be set up for the purpose of exchange of information on the active work programmes and also to provide an archive of the information accumulated within the FICARP project.
